Spending Too Much Time On Emails

Email is one of the most effective marketing tools that business have at their command. According to a study, an average person spends 28% of their work time managing and responding to their emails. If we take an average work week to contain 50 working hours, that means that every employee is spending around 14 hours a week in their inbox.
Managing your emails is one of the most frustrating and time taking task ever. Every person’s dream is to reach inbox zero, but it is not always possible. Just when you think that you have only a few emails left to manage, a few more pop up in your inbox. It’s as if they were waiting for you to almost reach inbox zero. We spend a lot of our time checking, sorting, and responding to emails.
There are a number of ways that you can manage your time effectively. Whether it’s downloading a bunch of apps on your rented iPads from one world rental or unsubscribing from a few newsletters, we have created a whole list of actions that you can perform to reach that elusive inbox zero and be at the top of your game.

SET A TIME TO RESPOND TO EMAIL

One of the best ways to handle the hundreds of emails in your inbox is to use the Pomorodo technique. It is a time management technique that was developed in the 1980s by Francesco Cirillo and it is still trending today. The technique uses a timer to break down your working day into multiple intervals. These working periods are usually 25 minutes each and have a break in between.

DON’T SET ANYTHING FOR LATER

When you open an email, make sure that you perform any action that is required. Whether you want to reply to the email, mark it as important, delete it or assign a label to it, take the appropriate action as soon as you have finished reading the email. DO NOT keep it for some other time.

USE LABELS AND STARS

Instead of having a single inbox for every email, create multiple inboxes or folders for different emails. You can have the regular starred, read, unread folders as well as others depending on your needs like current projects, projects to check up on, urgent and others. You can also use stars to ensure that important emails stand out.

WRITE BRIEF EMAILS

This is something that a lot of people ignore. You don’t need to write stories in every email. Keep it short and sweet. Save your time by being as brief as possible. Only mention the important stuff. Not every email requires a detailed answer. Also, there are emails with previous threads that have all the information already mentioned. Use them.

UNSUBSCRIBE

Sometimes we are motivated to subscribe to newsletters that we don’t need. Make sure that you unsubscribe from all those blogs, ecommerce websites, ebooks, and everything else so that you don’t have a cluttered inbox that you have to clean on a daily basis. The more decluttered your inbox is, the more stress free you will be.
These are some of the useful email tricks that will help you get more out of your day and lead to a life free of stress and worries.
